Changes to Sharing and Viewing News on Facebook in Australia

news changes, traditional media, print media

Facebook is looking a little different in Australia today. In response to Australia’s proposed new Media Bargaining law, Facebook has restricted publishers and people in Australia from sharing or viewing Australian and international news content.

With its link-friendly functionalities, we are all well accustomed to linking and sharing what we like on Facebook. We’ve come to use the platform as a connection, amplification, and promotion platform for articles on various news sites. With today’s changes, these posts are no longer possible, and past content is hidden.

As we all adapt to this new change, the news feed is looking quite barren. Time will tell if this change is permanent or a temporary reaction. In the meantime, be sure to adapt your active and scheduled posts and remove any links to news-related websites.
