Project overview

Osteria Polpo is an authentic Northern Italian restaurant located in the outskirts of Adelaide’s CBD, showcasing the traditional flavours of the Veneto region. Purple Giraffe’s objective was to position the restaurant as a true representative of its core value – authentically showcasing the culinary heritage of Veneto, and to connect with guests who value genuine Italian cuisine and its traditional roots.

To achieve this, Purple Giraffe developed and implemented strategies focused on messaging, media exposure, digital marketing, and event marketing:

Public Relations and Media Exposure

A key initiative was adding Osteria Polpo to the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW), increasing visibility on a respected national platform and supporting recognition across both local and national media. This included being named in The Australian’s Hot 50: The Best New Restaurants in South Australia and featured in Glam Adelaide.

Social Media Marketing

Purple Giraffe curated high-quality visuals and messaging to highlight Osteria Polpo’s unique selling point – authentic dishes and warm hospitality reflecting the Veneto region. A series of targeted Meta ads was executed to drive consistent foot traffic and bookings, aligning with the restaurant’s positioning of authenticity.

Development and Design of Function Packages

To build consistent base business and highlight Osteria Polpo’s event spaces, Purple Giraffe created a professional functions pack designed to convert enquiries into bookings. This was uploaded to a dedicated functions page on the restaurant’s website, enhancing the customer journey. Social media content further supported awareness and engagement.

Purple Giraffe successfully positioned Osteria Polpo as a beacon of traditional Venetian cuisine, delivering measurable outcomes across visibility, events, and brand positioning, including:

  • Increased Visibility: Authentic social media content attracted the right audience and drove engagement, while inclusion in the ATDW listing contributed to high-profile mentions in The Australian and Glam Adelaide.
  • Event Marketing: The functions pack provided a professional, on-brand tool that increased enquiries and supported the conversion of leads into bookings.
  • Brand Positioning: Osteria Polpo is now recognised as a destination for heritage-inspired Italian dining. The work also provided the restaurant team with confidence in their unique market positioning and strategic guidance to stand out in a competitive hospitality landscape.
